Marisa Ambersley

About Me

Of Caribbean origin, Marisa was born in East London, but spent her early childhood in Brooklyn and Chicago before returning to the UK. Inspired by the colour and energy of the communities she grew in, Marisa learned from a young age to express her creativity through drawing and painting.

After studying Art and Media in college, Marisa went on to pursue her interest in creativity and media communications at University of the Arts, London where she studied Journalism. Her career in media has led her back to her true passion of artistic expression, and she is a renewed artist in the game.

Growing up in the urban art scene of East London, Marisa admired abstract and controversial street art, inspired by the boldness, character, colour and meaning.

Marisa’s interest in modern culture, people and public art has taken her to many parts of the world (East Africa, Asia, North America and the Caribbean) to explore cultural artistic differences in communities. These experiences have shaped Marisa’s own take on modern art and expressionism.

Her latest art collection, Colourful People, showcases Marisa’s range of original abstract portraits where expression and emotion is at its core. Each portrait carries a different meaning, expression, action or emotion, for example Love, Believe, See, Play, Focus, Exhale. Her artistic approach is bold, colourful, and meaningful offering depth and exploration of the modern multicultural world we live in. See News & Exhibitions pages to find out where you can see her work.
